R-160 Subway Car Introduced 2006. 2 Divisions currently operate for the MTA. Division Rl 608 cars are made in Japan by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Constructed of stainless steel they are 18.5 meters long and have 4 doors on each side of the car. They are commuter trains for the city of New York. In the past graffiti was a problem so these new clean cars are graffiti proof. They operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
